History of VICS, Inc.

After World War II veterans returned home to raise families, begin careers and improve their neighborhoods.  Two veterans, Ben Rodriguez and Larry Amaya, observed that low income communities were not being offered services that affluent neighborhoods were receiving.  In 1977 they founded Veteran's in Community Service, Inc. to provide programs and services to improve low income communities.

VICS offered limited programs with few employees in its early years of service.  However in time VICS grew exponentially providing many services to cities and communities throughout Los Angeles County.  Today VICS offers programs including weatherization, home energy assistance, minor home repair. consumer education, veteran's affairs assistance and environmental services.

VICS was located in Whittier for many years, but recently moved to a state-of-the art facility in Santa Fe Springs.  VICS is proud of its trained and uniformed work crews who span out daily making home improvements.   At its home office, VICS' courteous and helpful employees are ready and available to assist everyone seeking services.
